Investigators believe a 2-year-old girl from Haralson County was accidentally shot with a pellet gun on Thursday night, and she perished as a result.

Deputies from the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office went to reports of a potential cardiac arrest on Poseyville Road shortly after 6 o’clock.

Deputies were informed that the 2-year-old victim had been shot with a BB pistol when they spoke to the caller near Corinth Posey Road and Business 27.

The girl, identified as Jaylea Hutchinson, was taken by emergency personnel to Tanner Medical Center at Higgins, where she subsequently passed away from her wounds.

The victim’s aunt claims that her demise has devastated the entire family.

Holly Ray remarked, “We just want her back. “She would make your existence brighter. Your life as well as her young existence.”

Jaylea perished, according to the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office.

According to investigators, first responders encountered them on the way to the hospital and kept trying to save Jaylea’s life.

“At this point, we just believe it is a horrible, tragic accident,” said Sgt. Heather Mecillas with the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office.
