He was best known for his roles in “The Phantom of the Opera,” “A Taste of Honey,” and the “Doctor Who” spin-off “Torchwood.” He was 90.
The news was announced on Twitter by London-based creative director Kerry Kyriacos Michael, who stated that Melvin passed away following a serious fall in December “from which he never fully recovered.”
He was one of my closest friends, and so many of us who had the luxury of knowing him will miss him, commented Michael.
