Bill Russell sons: Meet Jacob Russell and William Russell Jr.
Bill Russell known as Mr 11 Rings was a strong defensive centre for the Celtics. He was also equally a loving father to his children at home. The NBA legend became a father to three children from his first marriage. He was married four times until his death in his lifetime. His three children Karen, William Jr., and Jacob, were born to him by his first wife Rose Swisher.
Rose was his college sweetheart, and the two got married right after their graduation. The former couple was married from 1956 to 1973 until their divorce.
William Russell Jr. and Jacob Russell shared similar lives as they did not follow in their father’s footsteps in NBA.
None of Bill Russell’s sons pursued careers in the media nor interacted with the media. Thus, the sons of famed Russell resorted to private lifestyles despite their father’s far and wide claim in the sports industry.
Jacob and William Jr. lived away from the wide media and public attention. However, their elder sister Karen Kenyatta is quite the opposite.
She is a media person, lawyer, and a Black-rights activist. Her Twitter and LinkedIn handles are widely available for public view.
Moreover, she has accompanied her father in most of his important events, including the 2013 unveiling of Bill’s statue at Boston City Hall Plaza on November 1, 2013, in Boston, Massachusetts.
