Tragic Car Accident Claims the Lives of Bridget McDermott and Another Individual on Interstate 95

In a devastating car accident that occurred on Route 128/Interstate 95 near Lexington, Massachusetts, two drivers lost their lives. Among those tragically killed in the accident on Friday, October 13, 2023, was Bridget McDermott. The collision took place in close proximity to the Route 4/255 interchange, as reported by Massachusetts State Police.

Multiple calls were made to the Concord Barracks of the state police at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, reporting a wrong-way vehicle heading south on the northbound side of the highway. Upon arriving at the scene, state troopers were informed that the wrong-way vehicle had collided with another.

Investigators have stated that a 2019 Toyota Prius, traveling in the wrong direction, collided head-on with a 2001 Toyota RAV4 near Exit 49B, which is the exit for Route 4 north/Route 225 west. The RAV4 was traveling north on I-95/Route 128 near Exit 49 when the collision occurred. The RAV4 was involved in a collision, rolled onto its driver’s side, and subsequently caught fire. Firefighters extricated both drivers from their vehicles, and state police confirmed their tragic fatalities.

An Ongoing Investigation

The Concord State Police Barracks, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and State Police Crime Scene Services Section are actively conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances and reasons behind the Prius traveling in the wrong direction on the interstate.
