A Seven-Colored Shadow is the ninth series of Team GO Rocket Leaders Special Research tasks. It was available since June 17 th, 2021 for Trainers who finished A Troubling Situation and hadn’t got any previous Team GO Rocket Leaders Special Research still ongoing.
Pokémon Go has a set of Team Go Rocket Special Research Tasks, “A Seven-Colored Shadow,” for a limited time. From June 17 until Sept. 1, players can get a Shadow Ho-oh from completing “A Seven-Colored Shadow.” The quest requires you to beat several Team Go Rocket grunts, leaders, and eventually, Giovanni.
You can only start it if you’ve completed a past Special Research questline title A Troubling Situation. Here are all of the research steps and rewards, as well as a bit of info about Shadow Ho-oh!
Shadow Ho-Oh does pick up wins over Drifblim, Armored Mewtwo, and sometimes Lugia, but loses Cresselia and Dragon Breath Charizard that regular Ho-Oh can beat. So not really worse, but not objectively better either.

A Seven-Colored Shadow is a new Team GO Rocket Special Research that leads to discovering Shadow Ho-Oh. In order to obtain a Shadow Ho-Oh, you will need use a Super Rocket Radar to find and defeat Giovanni. A Seven-Colored Shadow is available from from June 17, 2021 to September 1, 2021 and Giovanni will control a Shadow Ho-Oh during that period.
