Dr. Robert Ferreira, MD – Trinity, FL

Dr. Robert Ferreira was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He went to college at the University of Oklahoma and, when he graduated, he was president of Alpha Epsilon Delta, a pre-med honor society. In 1991, he matriculated to Michigan State University, College of
Human Medicine. At that time, MSU was rated third in the nation for producing primary care physicians. During his third and fourth year there, he was an officer in AMSA, the American Medical Student Association. While in his third year as a medical student, he did an externship in St. Petersburg, Florida and fell in love with the local area. He spent the next 3 years at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg in their family medicine residency and was voted by his peers and the faculty as Chief Resident in his final year there. Directly out of residency, he was recruited by Baycare Medical Group where he practiced for nearly 19 years before deciding to start his own private practice.
He started this new practice with his 16-year partner, Dr. Leo Vieira, because they wanted to give a more personalized patient experience. Instead of seeing more and more patients, they wanted to focus on providing excellent care for the patients they already had in their very busy practices. More recently, Dr. Ferreira became interested in the use of medical marijuana for particularly difficult-to-treat conditions. He pursued additional training and education from national sources and has become certified by the Florida Department of Health Office of Medical Marijuana use to make recommendations.
