Who is Amity’s friend in Understanding Willow?

Amity with Boscha. Boscha is Amity’s former “friend” that helped her bully Luz, Gus, and Willow. In “Understanding Willow”, it is revealed that Amity is only friends with Boscha because their parents are acquaintances, with a young Amity declaring she never liked Boscha from the start.

During the game, Amity injures her leg, and gets incredibly flustered by Luz’s offer to carry her, followed by her actually doing so; in the end, she visits the Owl House after getting medical attention and is welcomed by Luz, Willow, and Gus.

While Luz understands Amity’s fear of her mom, she still asks her to take her to Odalia so that they can work out a deal to get back into Hexside. However, Amity doesn’t have the courage to stand up to her mother, and leaves Luz alone.

Since then, the two were almost always at odds due to Amity’s snobbish behavior, despite Luz’s attempts to make amends. Like many witches, Amity underestimates humans, believing they are incapable of performing magic until Luz shows her an alternative method of spell casting.

Hooty. Like most guests and residents of the Owl House, Amity finds Hooty annoying, going as far as threatening to destroy him if he ever talked to her again. Sure enough, Hooty disregarded the threat and Amity kept her word, beating him up badly enough to have him wear an eye patch.

By the end of the episode, she all but renounces her former ties with Boscha and stands openly committed to her restored friendship with Willow, declaring that she “made [her social life] better”. When Amity visits the Owl House after getting her injured leg bandaged, Willow greets her warmly with everybody else.

The name Amity has its roots in Latin, meaning “friendship”, which could represent her budding relationship with Luz, and Willow before her. Her surname, Blight, on the other hand, is a disease or fungi that cause it in plants, which most likely relates to the formerly troubled relationship between Amity and Willow.

Who is the owl house?

The Disney animated series The Owl House features a number of characters created by Dana Terrace. It follows the story of Luz Noceda, an average fantasy loving girl who finds herself transported to the Boiling Isles. She meets Eda Clawthorne, the Owl Lady, and the diminutive yet adorable demon King who is her roommate at the titular Owl House. Together, the three go on fantastic adventures and encounter magical phenomena. Recurring characters include Luz’s classmates at Hexside Academy, Willow Park, Gus Porter, and Amity Blight; Eda’s sister Lilith, a great witch in her own right; and Hooty, the living door knocker on the Owl House.

Amity Blight (voiced by Mae Whitman) is a top student at Hexside, and an abomination expert. Upon first meeting, Amity appears to be a brash, entitled, and snooty upper-classman who looks down on those she feels are inferior to her, such as Willow. She is finally put in her place when Luz arrives and makes her lose her cool in front of Principal Bump. In her next appearance, she began to hold severe disdain towards Luz, and they enter a witches’ duel to determine whether Luz should continue witch training. However, when Amity is exposed to accidental cheating on Lilith Clawthorne’s part, Amity is surprised to see that Luz shows kindness to her, and allows her to continue magic training. Amity slowly begins to show a sentimental side, and is shown to constantly get picked on by her older siblings Emira and Edric. She starts to become fascinated with Luz’s obsession with wanting to be friends, and after having a spat with her, they make up and bond over their shared love of The Good Witch Azura. From that point on, Amity’s personality changes from slight indifference, to genuine friendliness, yet displays nervousness when wanting to talk to Luz. She even begins making up with Willow, admitting that her distancing was due to her parents’ influence and not being good enough to stand up for herself. Amity is later revealed to have a crush on Luz, to the point that she now gets nervous whenever she gets close to her.

Willow Park (voiced by Tati Gabrielle) is a student at Hexside and Luz and Gus’s friend who is skilled with plant magic. Originally, Willow was placed in the Abomination Track due to her parents’ wishes. She was terrible at performing on this track, which caused much bullying from her classmates, especially Amity Blight, who would call her “Half-a-Witch Willow”. Upon meeting Luz for the first time, the two attempted to improve her image, which works up to a certain point. Eventually, Willow was forced to use her plant magic, which upon being viewed by Principal Bump, allowed her to transfer to the Plant Track. Since then, Willow has grown from a shy and insecure girl to a confident and even level-headed individual who tends to act as the voice of reason to Luz’s eccentricity and Gus’ over-confidence. She and Amity used to be close friends since childhood, but due to Amity’s parents not wanting to associate with her due to her lack of magic, Amity cut ties with her, causing great misery to both her and Amity. Willow eventually learns this in “Understanding Willow” and, while she still does not reaccept Amity’s friendship, she appreciates that she is trying to do right by her. In that same episode, Willow is shown to have two dads. In “Wing It Like Witches”, Willow’s newfound confidence has earned her some respect at Hexside, though some students like Boscha still pick on her. She shows considerable restraint, as while she wanted to use the Green Thumb Gauntlet to expand her plant abilities, she immediately returned it uttering “I just wanted to try it out,” though she still used it later to help Luz.

Edalyn “Eda” Clawthorne (voiced by Wendie Malick, Dee Bradley Baker when cursed) is the 40-something, self-proclaimed most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles, who is Luz’s mentor. A reward has been offered for her capture, due to her criminal record that includes offenses such as selling human items, not joining a coven, and theft. Despite her chaotic and uncoordinated approach to teaching magic, Eda knows a lot more about it than she lets on, and is effective in performing complicated tricks. Eda happily despises Hexside Academy of Magic and Demonics, which she attended when she was young, and was further pleased to see that Luz had been banned following an incident. However, upon realizing that Luz wants more knowledge, she relents and makes a deal with Principal Bump to have her finally attend classes, admitting that she cares about Luz and wants to make her happy. Eda initially claimed that she was called “The Owl Lady” because of her home and similar traits to owls, but it is actually due to a curse placed on her that causes her to turn into an owl monster and must drink an elixir daily to suppress it. Unfortunately, the elixir begins to lose its potency on her. Eda’s relationship with her sister Lilith is complicated. While they clearly care about one another, Eda was resistant to wanting to work with her under the Emperor’s Coven and openly fought with her to retain her freedom. It was later revealed that Eda, in fact, wanted to join the coven, but upon seeing that Lilith wanted it, was willing to give it up. Ironically, it is revealed that Eda was cursed by Lilith when they fought for the position and she had been working to try and break the curse. Eventually, the sisters make up just as Eda’s condition worsens. Lilith decides to share Eda’s curse, resulting in the two of them getting two different colored eyes.

Lilith Clawthorne (voiced by Cissy Jones) is Eda’s estranged older sister and, until the events of the episode “Young Blood, Old Souls”, leader of the Emperor’s Coven. Lilith and Eda have a strained relationship, with the former insisting on coming with her to see Emperor Belos. She gets humiliated time and time again by Eda, who stymies her at every turn. It was greatly implied that she had genuinely good motives for wanting to have Eda come with her when she unknowingly admits to Luz that Eda wanted to join the Emperor’s Coven when she was little. Despite their terse relationship, the two of them do express longing for some kind of reconnection.

Camila Noceda (voiced by Elizabeth Grullon) – Luz’s mother who sends her to summer camp to curb her overactive imagination. Unaware Luz is on the Boiling Isles, she continues to stay in contact with her via text messages. In “Enchanting Grom Fright,” it is revealed that she is getting letters about the summer camp from someone who is pretending to be Luz. She is Dominican-American, with the voice actor for Luz, Sarah-Nicole Robles, saying that she and Luz are a “refreshing representation of a real Hispanic family.

Hieronymus Bump (voiced by Bumper Robinson) is the principal of Hexside School of Magic and Demonics who wears a demon-shaped hat over half his face. At first glance, he seems rather imposing and possibly sinister. However, he is simply pressed upon by his job as being the principal of the school and does care about his work.
