The Rivers State Government has refuted social media allegations that Governor Nyesom Wike’s son was killed in an American shooting.

Chris Finebone, the state’s commissioner for information and communication, made this statement in response to a trending social media post that claimed Wike’s son was killed in the US due to the governor’s supposed involvement in the recently held national and presidential elections in Rivers State.

“Breaking news: Wike’s only son shot dead in California, US over father’s act in Rivers race,” reads the post’s caption.

The photo our reporter saw showed Wike, his wife Justice Suzette, and their daughter posing alongside the governor’s son, who was wearing a convocation gown, at his graduation from a UK university last year.

However, Finebone claimed that the governor doesn’t have a son—or any kid, for that matter—in the United States in a statement titled “Yet again, another lie” that was sent to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
