Krystal Randolph and Tyler Phillips Died in Vehicle Crash , Two William Paca Middle School
William Floyd district reports that Tyler Phillips, a student at William Paca Middle School, died as a result of a hit-and-run in Coram.
According to his school district, a hit-and-run vehicle struck a 13-year-old boy in Coram the night before, killing him. The accident also hurt the kid’s sister.According to a police press release detailing the collision, Tyler Phillips, of Route 112 in Medford, and Krystal Randolph, 13, who lived with her brother, were walking west in the bike lane of Granny Road near Middle Island Road at around 7:25 p.m. when a “unknown vehicle” traveling in the same direction struck both teenagers.The driver then continued west on Granny Road.According to a tweet sent out by the William Floyd School District on Thursday morning, the two are eighth-graders at William Paca Middle School.The tweet noted that Krystal and Tyler had a sister who attends Tangier Smith Elementary School and concluded, “While we are happy that Krystal is likely to live, we are heartbroken to learn of Tyler’s passing.”According to a police department email release, both teenagers were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital following the collision.
