American football coach Larry Coyer was born on April 19, 1943. From 2009 to 2011, he was the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator in the National Football League. (NFL).

He served as the defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos, New Mexico State, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before to joining the Indianapolis Colts.

In the late 1950s, Coyer was a standout athlete at Barboursville High School in Barboursville, West Virginia.

Coyer received recognition for his playing abilities by being inducted into the Marshall Football Hall of Fame after graduating from Marshall University in 1964. At his alma institution, where he worked as an assistant coach from 1965 to 1967, he started his coaching career in 1965.

Coyer has further experience as a professional coach from his stint in the United States Football League, where he worked as the defensive coordinator for the Memphis Showboats and the linebackers coach for the Michigan Panthers (1983–84).
