After being shot Tuesday night in the Morrell Park area, a man passed away in a hospital, according to a news release from Baltimore Police.

Officers investigating a complaint of a shooting in Southwest Baltimore’s 1900 block at about 9:38 p.m. discovered a male with potentially fatal gunshot wounds there, according to police.

Maurice Smith, 36, was the victim, according to police’s Thursday identification.

The victim was taken to a hospital by emergency personnel, where he was subsequently declared dead, according to the statement.
