Meet Irving Sorkin, Joyce Sorkin

Arleen Sorkin, an American actress, screenwriter, presenter, and comedian in retirement, was born on October 14, 1955.

For her role as Calliope Jones on the NBC daytime drama Days of Our Lives and for inspiring and providing the voice for Harley Quinn in Batman: The Animated Series and the countless animated series and computer games that followed, developed by her college classmate Paul Dini, Sorkin is well-known.

Along with Mary Fulham, Tracey Berg, and Cassandra Danz, Sorkin launched her cabaret career in the late 1970s and early 1980s as a member of the comic troupe The High-Heeled Ladies.

On Days of Our Lives, she played the crazy yet endearing Calliope Jones, one of her most notable roles. She performed in this role from 1984 until 1990, and then again in 1992 and 2001. On February 24, 2006, she played the same part in the soap opera for a fourth time. Beginning on May 5, 2010, she made a brief appearance on Days once more.
