UPDATE: Missing University of Delaware Student Chris Mohler Found Safe
We are relieved to share the update that Chris Mohler, the University of Delaware student who had been reported missing, has been found safe.
Chris was located at Grant Park in Centerville at approximately 12:30 a.m., and he has since returned home. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported and assisted in the search efforts during the 48 hours he was missing.
Background:
Chris had gone missing after experiencing extreme stress following a calculus exam result, which was received on Wednesday evening after band practice. His family had tried to provide him with some space and rest.
He left his home on foot between 10 and 11 p.m. while his family was asleep. Notably, Chris left without carrying any wallet, money, cards, ID, phone, or personal possessions. He was wearing a red scout (NYLT) tee shirt along with black shorts and shoes at the time of his departure.
Although Chris occasionally went hiking to clear his mind, these outings were typically brief, and he had never ventured out at night. A sheriff’s deputy reported seeing someone matching his description walking on 725 towards Miamisburg just past McEwen Rd at 11 p.m. on Wednesday night.
Chris is known to be quiet and introverted. He spends time at the University of Delaware in Fitz Hall (Marching & Pep Band), Liberty (regular mass helper), and the upper levels of the library. His circle of friends includes those in the Band, PMA, and several Engineering classes.
Additionally, he enjoys hiking and cycling in parks and on bike paths. Having been a Boy Scout, he is familiar with scout campgrounds.
