Noretta Dunworth Passes Away, Instructor at Noretta Dunworth School of Dance

Noretta Dunworth, a teacher at the Noretta Dunworth School of Dance, passes away

Dunworth, who, at age 12, started teaching neighborhood kids how to dance in her parents’ basement, went on to found the award-winning Noretta Dunworth School of Dance in Dearborn. She died on Sunday at age 94.

Dunworth has dedicated her life to teaching dance and established a reputation in the field since 1940. Until her death, she kept on instructing Cecchetti ballet lessons.

“She was instructing her Cecchetti students last week, had a hair appointment the following day, and then went out to lunch the following day.

I therefore assumed that she was improving every day, but this was false. This morning, my lovely mother didn’t awaken, “said Loni Lan, Dunworth’s daughter.

Many girls who would not have otherwise had access to connections in the dance industry have benefited from Dunworth and her daughter Padesky’s assistance. The school often invites all different kinds of choreographers, exposing the dancers to what is modern.

“I adore them since nothing was too much for them. They told me that there was nothing impossible “stated Yakima. “Noretta didn’t waste any time before she passed away.”
