Japanese politician Shintaro Abe was from the Yamaguchi Prefecture.

He was a prominent member of the party in power, the Liberal Democrats.

He held the position of foreign minister from 1982 to 1986. He was the father of Shinzo Abe, a former prime minister.

On April 29, 1924, Abe was born in Tokyo.

He was raised in the Yamaguchi prefecture, the home prefecture of his father, from the moment he was born.

He was Kan Abe’s (a politician and member of Parliament) oldest son. His mother was a military officer’s daughter.

Abe wed Yoko Kishi, the princess Nobusuke Kishi’s daughter, in 1951.

His second son, Shinzo Abe, served as prime minister twice: from 2012 to 2020 and again from 2006 to 2007.

His third child, Nobuo, was adopted by his brother-in-law as soon as he was born.

In 2012, Nobuo regained Nobusuke Kishi’s historic House of Representatives seat, and in 2020, he was named Minister of Defense.
