Trina Newman Died in a hit-and-run in South Los Angeles Accident, relative search for the driver responsible

A community activist and minister   died on Christmas Eve after being hit by a car in South Los Angeles. Her family and friends are mourning her loss.

Witnesses claim Trina Newman, 61, was struck by a car as she stepped off the sidewalk to get into her car on Saturday around 3:30 p.m. while delivering gifts to nearby children at a community center on Broadway near 88th Street.

On the spot, Newman was identified as deceased.

Police set up a crime scene perimeter on Broadway as family members made an effort to comfort one another.

Police did not provide a description of the vehicle. Family members hope security cameras in the area will help bring the driver to justice.
