Wes Foster Obituary, Long & Foster Real Estate co-founder

P. Wesley “Wes” Foster, one-half of the business partnership that built one of the most recognized brands in residential real estate in the country, passed away late on Friday at the age of 89.

There was no mention of his reason of death.

Foster and Henry Long notably teamed up to form their own company, The Long & Foster Cos., in 1968. Foster and Long first met when Long visited a house Foster was showing.

Foster and Long initially focused on the residential real estate side of the company while sharing a 600-square-foot office in Fairfax with one other employee. Foster eventually purchased Long’s share in 1979 after Long, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 83, decided to maintain the company independent at the time.

Foster leaves behind his wife Betty, along with two sons, a daughter, six grandkids, and other relatives.
