He is the son of Duff and Lynne Murphy Badgley. His father worked as a newspaper reporter and carpenter. Badgley split his childhood years between Richmond, Virginia. He happens to be the only child o his parents, hence he has no siblings.

He is to James Badglwly – his son whom he welcomed in 2020. He is also the husband of  British-American singer, Domino Kirke with whom he has been married since 2017 and welcomed his son.
