The football team has confirmed that Jake Hescock, a former UCF football player, has passed away.

According to his relatives, Hescock suffered a heart arrest on Tuesday while collapsing after a jog in Boston.

After that, he was rushed to the hospital where, according to his cousin, he later passed away.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to say my cousin Jake has passed away. May he rest in peace and forever shine his bright soul down upon us, his cousin wrote on social media.

Jake Hescock’s passing was confirmed by UCF Football on Facebook on Sunday, with the statement that the Knight Nation will miss him.

“We are heartbroken to learn of Jake Hescock’s demise. Everyone in the Knight Nation loved him.

He was stolen from us too soon, and we shall miss him terribly,” Facebook was updated by UCF Football.

We’re heartbroken to hear of Jake’s loss, said coach Gus Malzahn in a tribute to Hescock on Twitter. He was a remarkable man who perfectly personified what it means to be a UCF Knight. Jake was adored by everyone who knew him, and coaching him was a blessing. His absence will be felt deeply. His entire family is in our prayers, along with Kristi and I.
